The Wurzels are band from Somerset, England, best known for their number one hit “The Combine Harvester” and number three hit “I Am a Cider Drinker” in 1976.
They mainly re-work original songs with new lyrics, incorporating colloquial phrases from the area of Somerset. The band name comes from the word ‘mangelwurzel’ which is a type of animal feed-crop.

The late 1990s saw the band gaining a cult status amongst students and a resurgence in their popularity in their native West Country.

The Wurzels have had many changes in line-up over the years, with only 3 original band members remaining in 2022.
