Gospel Music

Gospel music is a genre of Christian music.. Gospel music is composed and performed for many purposes, including aesthetic pleasure, religious or ceremonial purposes, and as an entertainment product for the marketplace. Gospel music often has dominant vocals (often with strong use of harmony) with Christian lyrics. Gospel music can be traced to the early 17th century.

Hymns  specifically written for the purpose of adoration or prayer, and typically addressed to a deity or deities, or to a prominent figure or personification.. Hymns may or may not include instrumental accompaniment.

Black gospel, by far the best-known variant, emerged out of the African-American music tradition and has evolved in various ways over the years, continuing to form the basis of Black church worship even today. It has also come to be used in churches of various other cultural traditions especially within Pentecostalism.
