Styx are a rock band from Chicago. They formed in the late 1970’s with a line up of Dennis DeYoung, Chuck and John Panozzo and were soon joined by John Curulewski and James “JY” Young. In 1971 they released their first album Styx, but the single from it “Best Thing” only managed to creep into the top 100. They subsequently released the albums “The Serpent Is Rising”, “Styx’s II” but it wasn’t until 1974 that they achieved major chart success with their power ballad “Lady”. By 1979 a poll found them to be the most popular rock band with teenagers and the release of their single “Babe” flew to number one in the billboard charts.

Despite several break ups and make ups, member changes, and solo releases Styx are still going strong sometimes teaming up with acts like REO Speedwagon, Foreigner and ex Eagle Don Felder in benefit concerts and on tour.
