Sixto Rodriguez, often known simply as Rodriguez, is an American folk musician born on July 10, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan. The son of Mexican immigrants, he honed his musical talents in the vibrant folk scene of the 1960s and early 1970s. In most of his songs, Rodriguez takes a political stance on the difficulties that faced the inner-city poor. His yrics and melodies, drew comparisons to Bob Dylan and other folk greats. He released two albums, “Cold Fact” (1970) and “Coming from Reality” (1971), but both failed commercially in the United States, leading him to fade into relative obscurity.
