P J Proby  is an American pop/rock legend best known for his sixties mega-hits “Hold Me”, “I Can’t Make It Alone”“Somewhere” and “Maria”

During the 1960s he entertained British music lovers with his power ballad hits and flamboyant stage performances.

Early on in life he took acting and singing lessons and played small roles in films. He released two singles on small independent record labels before he was signed to ‘Metric Music’. After a number of unsuccessful singles, in 1962 Proby began writing songs and recording demos for artists such as Elvis Presley and Bobby Vee.

P J Proby travelled to London, England where he appeared on a TV show featuring the Beatles. He then had more success on the UK charts, scoring UK top 20 hits in 1964 and 1965 including “Hold Me” (UK Number 3), “Together” (UK Number 8), “Somewhere” (UK Number 6), and “Maria” (UK Number 8); the last two songs were both from the musical West Side Story.

Late 2018 (the year of his 80th Birthday) P J Proby embarked on his farewell tour of the UK.
