Lightning Seeds are an English alternative rock band from Liverpool, England formed in 1989 by Ian Broudie (vocals, guitar, producer), formerly of the band Big In Japan. He later performed in various bands as well as producing albums for other fledgling artists. The name ‘Lightning Seeds’ was born in 1989 along with the hit song “Pure”.

Broudie dipped in and out of producing but revived the Lightning Seeds for the album ‘Sense’ in 1992 and in 1994 released ‘Jollification’, which was when he formed a touring band to play live shows. The British chart hits “Three Lions” (a number one U.K. single commissioned as theme music for the 1996 UEFA European Football Championship) and “Ready or Not” (a Top 20 U.K. single) followed in 1996.
