Lauryn Hill (born May 26, 1975) is an American singer, songwriter, rapper, and actress.

Hill is credited for breaking barriers for female rappers and for bringing hip hop and neo soul to popular music. She is known for being a member of Fugees alongside Wyclef Jean and Pras Michael.

After the group disbanded she released her sole solo studio album ‘The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill’ in 1998. It debuted at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and was certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America(RIAA), making Hill the first female hip hop artist to ever receive a Diamond certification in the United States.

She starred in the film Sister Act II – Back In The Habit.
