Kenny Rogers (August 21, 1938 – March 20 2020) Rogers formed his first band while in high school in 1956. After working with bands and as a solo artist, Rogers released The Gambler in 1978. The title track became a huge country and pop hit and gave Rogers his second Grammy Award. Rogers recorded a series of hits with the likes of country legend Dottie West and scored a big No. 1 tune and “Islands in the Stream,” with Dolly Parton for which they won the Academy of Country Music Award for Single of the Year.  After this, Rogers continued to thrive as a country music performer, however his ability to crossover to pop music started to wane but among the hits from this period, his duet with Ronnie Milsap, “Make No Mistake, She’s Mine,” won the 1988 Grammy Award for Best Country Vocal Performance, Duet.

After more than five decades of touring and entertaining the world, he embarked on a farewell tour, “The Gambler’s Last Deal,” which ended in October 2017 and he died on 20th March 2020. On 27th March a little-known song “Goodbye” was released as a tribute and thank you to all his fans.
