Jennifer Paige is an American singer-songwriter, best known for her 1998 hit single, “Crush.”
Paige began performing in local talent shows and singing at church at a young age. She later studied opera and musical theatre at the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music.
After college, Paige moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music. She soon landed a record deal and released her self-titled debut album in 1996. The album’s first single, “Strangers Again,” was a minor hit, but it was the album’s second single, “Crush,” that made Paige a household name. The song peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and went on to sell more than two million copies in the United States.
Paige followed up “Crush” with the release of her second album, Jennifer Paige, in 2000. The album’s first single, “Always You,” was a top 40 hit, but the album failed to match the success of its predecessor. Paige was subsequently dropped by her record label and took a break from the music industry.
In 2009, Paige made her comeback with the release of her third album, Starflower. The album’s first single, “Beautiful Lie,” was a minor hit, but the album failed to generate much buzz. Paige has since released a handful of singles, but she has yet to match the success of “Crush.”
