Garbage is a Scottish–American alternative rock band formed in 1993. It consists of Scottish musician Shirley Manson (vocals, guitar) and American musicians Duke Erikson (guitar, keyboards), Steve Marker (guitar), and Butch Vig (drums). They have sold over 17 million albums worldwide.

Garbage have received over fifty industry nominations, and won several awards. Major awards which Garbage have been nominated for include the Grammy Awards and the BRIT Awards.

The band formed in August 1995 and their debut album arrived a year later. After receiving support from radio and MTV, the album began to climb the charts toward the end of 1995, peaking at number 20 on the Billboard 200. By the summer of 1996, Garbage had gone gold in the United States, and shortly afterward it achieved platinum status, supported by radio hits “Queer,” and “Stupid Girl.” By 2021 they had released 7 studio albums.

They have supported Alanis Morissette and Tear For Fears on their world tours.
