Fidlar – stylized as FIDLAR, is an American punk and garage rock band.
Founding members Zac Carper and Elvis Kuehn met while working at a recording studio. They started recording songs when the studio was empty and posting the finished products online.
Three years after recording their first songs, they appeared on stage together and went on tour with Swedish band ‘The Hives’.
The original 2 members were joined by Max Kuehn and Brandon Schwartzel and the four performed together as FIDLAR from 2009. Their style was influenced by bands like Offspring and blink-182.
In 2011, they released their debut EP, ‘DIYDUI’ before they were signed to a record label in 2012 and released their debut album. ‘FIDLAR’, which was released in early 2013 debuted at number five on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and number two on the Alternative New Artist chart.
Their 2015 album ‘Too’, featured a more mature outlook and topped Billboard’s Heatseekers chart as well as charting well in the U.K. and Australia.
Following tours for ‘Too’, FIDLAR remained relatively quiet for a period, eventually beginning work on album number three and after the release of advance singles in 2018, the band’s third LP, ‘Almost Free’, appeared in January 2019.
