Cramps – The Cramps were an American punk rock band formed in 1976 and active until 2009. Led by vocalist Lux Interior and guitarist Poison Ivy, they were known for their wild and energetic performances and their unique blend of rockabilly, punk, and surf music.

The band’s sound was heavily influenced by 1950s rock and roll, with a dark and twisted edge. They drew inspiration from artists like Elvis Presley, Link Wray, and Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, and combined it with their own eccentric and provocative style. Lux Interior’s wild stage presence, coupled with Poison Ivy’s raw and aggressive guitar riffs, created a truly captivating live experience.

The Cramps released their debut album, “Songs the Lord Taught Us,” in 1980, and went on to release a string of critically acclaimed albums throughout their career. Some of their most famous songs include “Garbageman,” “Human Fly,” and “Bikini Girls with Machine Guns.”

Despite never achieving mainstream commercial success, The Cramps gained a dedicated cult following and became influential figures in the punk and alternative rock scenes. Their music and style have had a lasting impact on countless artists and bands that followed in their footsteps.

The Cramps disbanded in 2009 following the death of Lux Interior, but their legacy and influence continue to live on. They are remembered as one of the pioneers of punk rock and for pushing the boundaries of rock and roll with their unique and provocative sound.
