Wes Carr is an Australian singer / songwriter who rose to fame as the winner of the popular TV series Australian Idol in 2008. His winning song “You,” was released digitally as a single and quickly topped the Australian singles chart.

Carr grew up in Sydney’s western suburbs surrounded by music. His father was a folk singer and having been brought up on classic rock, he credits the Beatles and Led Zeppelin as some of his biggest musical influences.

In 2008, Carr auditioned for Australian Idol with the song “Love the One You’re With” by Stephen Stills and made it through to the top 12. He went on to win the competition and was given a recording contract with Sony BMG.

He went on to release his debut album Fear & Freedom in 2009, which featured the top 10 singles “Feels Like Woah”, “Fear & Freedom”, and “You”. The album debuted at number four on the ARIA Albums Chart.

His second album The Way The World Look featuring the singles “Been a Long Time” and “My Cat” was released in 2012, and peaked at number 11.

In 2014, Carr released his EP entitled New Sensation. He has since released several singles, including “Youngblood”, “Heart Starts Beating” and “1961”. He continues to tour and perform in Australia and overseas.
