Rodgers and Hammerstein (Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II) were a successful musical theatre writing duo in the 1940s and 50s and they have been described as the greatest writing partnership of the 20th century.
Among the many accolades that their shows (and film versions) garnered were Tony Awards, Academy Awards, Pulitzer Prizes and Grammy Awards.
Most of their shows have since been reworked for television and have seen stage revivals across the world.
