Van Morrison (born August 31, 1945) is an Irish singer-songwriter and saxophonist who played in a succession of groups in the mid-1960s before embarking on successful solo career
Having listened to blues, country and gospel early in life, he was a travelling musician at 13, singing, playing guitar and sax, in several bands, before forming Them in 1964.
One of his first solo hits ‘Brown Eyed Girl’ was released in 1967 and became one of Van Morrison’s most popular tunes.
The list of awards and accolades Van Morrison has achieved is impressive and include a knighthood, Brit, OBE, Ivor Novello, Grammys, honorary University doctorates and entry into The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.
In 2015 Van Morrison released his 35th studio album ‘Duets: Re-working The Catalogue’ which featured singers such as Bobby Womack, Gregory Porter, Mavis Staples and Michael Bublé.
