Sundays (The) are an English alternative rock band. The Sundays secured a recording contract with Rough Trade Records.
The band consists of vocalist Harriet Wheeler, guitarist, bassist, and songwriter David Gavurin, and drummer Patrick Hannan.
The group achieved early success in the UK with their single “Here’s Where the Story Ends” from their 1990 album ‘Reading, Writing and Arithmetic’. The album drew critical acclaim and was named NME’s Album of the Year for 1990. The follow-up album, ‘Blind’, was released in 1992 and produced the hit single “Goodbye“.
The band’s third album, ‘Static and Silence’, was released in 1997 and marked a change in direction for the band, blending elements of folk, jazz, and classical music. The band went on hiatus shortly after the release of the album, with members pursuing other musical and personal projects.
The band reunited in 2006 and released a fourth album, ‘Red Letter Days’, in 2012. The band has since embarked on several reunion tours. They continue to release music and perform live, and their music continues to be highly acclaimed.
