The Stray Cats were formed by guitarist/vocalist Brian Setzer in Long Island, New York, in 1979. Their style of music (rockabilly) wasn’t very well received in the US and in the summer of 1980, the group headed to England. There they met musician and producer Dave Edmunds who offered to work with the group. They entered the studio to record their self-titled debut album and had three hits that year with “Runaway Boys”, “Rock This Town”, and “Stray Cat Strut”. The band was inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame on October 15, 2006.
