Scott McKenzie (born Philip Wallach Blondheim III; January 10, 1939 – August 18, 2012) was an American singer and songwriter. He was best known for his 1967 hit single and generational anthem “San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)”.

Along with John Phillips, Mike Boran and Bill Cleary, he formed the doo wop band The Abstracts which later became known as The Smoothies, then in 1961 he joined The Journeymen who were a popular folk band. By 1967 Scott McKenzie was a solo artist and released “San Francisco”
