Sam Ryder is a British singer-songwriter who rose to prominence through the social media platform TikTok.

He represented the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with the song “Space Man” and finished first in the jury vote, and second overall.

Ryder made his debut as a singer and guitarist in the music industry in 2006 when he co-founded the band The Morning After, with whom he released two studio albums. Following his time with the band he toured as a guitarist and lead vocalist for a couple of bands.

Sam Ryder started to pursue a career as a solo artist and spent some time busking, and performing at weddings and clubs all over the south-east of England before joining TikTok.

In May 2022, the BBC aired a documentary on BBC iPlayer and YouTube which detailed Ryder’s journey to Eurovision.

Ryder supported singers Paloma Faith, Lewis Capaldi, and Rag’n’Bone Man, during their shows in the summer and in August, he released his follow-up single, “Somebody“, which reached number 77 on the UK Singles Chart.
