S.O.S Band (The) is an American R&B and electro-funk group who gained fame in the 1980s. They are best known for the songs “Take Your Time (Do It Right)”, “Just Be Good to Me”, and “The Finest”.
After signing with the record label Tabu, the band worked with songwriter/producer Sigidi Abdullah who produced and co-wrote “Take Your Time (Do It Right)”. In the United States, it reached the number-one spot on the Billboard R&B singles chart and number three on the Billboard Hot 100 in mid-1980. The single was certified platinum by the RIAA for sales of one million copies and spent several months on the US charts. “Take Your Time (Do It Right)” was a worldwide hit although only moderately successful on the charts.
