New Edition are an American R & B vocal group which was formed in 1978. Their big break came in 1981 when they were spotted by singer/producer Maurice Starr whilst they were performing in a talent show. They recorded their debut album which saw its title track reach number one on both the American R&B singles chart and the UK singles chart. After a move to MCA Records, thr New Edition released their second album which spun off the top twenty hit “Mr. Telephone Man”, and went on to be certified double platinum in the United States.
