Lonely Island (The) The Lonely Island is an American comedy trio, who produce and star in short films which combine comedy and occasionally music.
The group, comprising of school friends Akiva Schaffer, Andy Samberg and Jorma Taccone, were originally known for a series of “digital shorts” aired on American TV. Many of these musical sketches became hits. In 2005 digital short they created called “Lazy Sunday” became an online phenomenon.
Their collaboration with Justin Timberlake won them a 2007 Creative Arts Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics. They also partnered with the likes of Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and T-Pain.
