Lizzo is an American singer, rapper and classically trained flautist.
Lizzo attained mainstream success with the release of her third studio album, Cuz I Love You (2019), which peaked inside the top five of the US Billboard 200.
She won the award for Best Urban Contemporary Album, Best Pop Solo Performance for “Truth Hurts”. She has also won Billboard Music Awards, BET Awards, and Soul Train Music Awards.
Lizzo began learning flute at age 10 but also had in interest in rap music. When she was in her teens she formed a musical group with her friends. She continued her formal classical music training in college. After this she moved to Minneapolis and concentrated on trying to break into the rap music industry. She performed with several different groups before going solo.
