Lee Ryan is an English singer-songwriter and actor. He is best known as a member of the boy band Blue. He has also appeared in theatre productions and television shows.
Ryan was born in Chatham, Kent, England. He began his career as an actor, appearing in the West End production of War of the Worlds. He has also appeared in musicals such as Chicago and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
He auditioned for and was successful in gaining a place in the boy band Blue in 2001. The group achieved success with their debut album All Rise (2001). They went on to release three more albums: One Love (2002), Guilty (2003), and Roulette (2005).
His debut solo album, ‘Lee Ryan’, was released in 2005 and peaked at #4 on the UK Albums Chart. Ryan released his first single “Army of Lovers” in July 2005. It debuted at No. 3 in the UK Singles Chart and hit No. 1 in Italy. In January 2006, Ryan released his third single. In the UK “When I Think of You” the song reached No. 15. Ryan’s second album, Secrets, was released in 2014. The album’s lead single, “I Am Who I Am“, peaked at #36 on the UK Singles Chart.
In 2010, Ryan appeared on the UK reality TV show Celebrity Big Brother. He was the first contestant to be evicted from the house.
Ryan reunited with Blue in 2011 and in 2022 they released singles “Haven’t Found You Yet” and “Dance with Me” from their sixth studio album Heart & Soul.
