Lee Roy Parnell is an American country music singer, songwriter and guitarist. He has recorded several studio albums, and has charted more than twenty singles on the Billboard country charts.

Lee Roy Parnell was born December 21, 1956, in Abilene, Texas. He began playing guitar at a young age. In high school, he formed a band called the Rockin’ Rays and his first recording was with the band on the single, “Broken Arrow“.

In 1980, Parnell moved to Nashville, Tennessee and began working as a session musician. He signed with Epic Records in 1984 and released his self-titled debut album. The album’s first single, “A Little Bit of You“, peaked at number 57 on the Billboard country charts. Parnell’s second album, Love Without Mercy, was released in 1987. The album’s single, “Love Without Mercy“, reached the top 10 on the country charts. Parnell signed with MCA Records in 1990.

Parnell has co-written two Top 40 country hits for other artists including Merle Haggard. He is also credited with playing slide guitar on Mary Chapin Carpenter’s song “Shut Up And Kiss Me“.
