Lee Greenwood is an American country music singer and songwriter. He is a skilled guitarist and fiddle player, and his music is often infused with a rock & roll edge. He has released more than 20 albums and has charted more than 35 singles on the Billboard country charts. Among his hits are “I.O.U.”, “Ring on Her Finger, Time on Her Hands”, “Somebody’s Gonna Love You”, and “Dixie Road”. He has also been a member of the Grand Ole Opry since 1983.

He began playing guitar and singing in local clubs when he was a teenager. He was discovered by country music producer Jerry Kennedy, who helped him get a recording contract with MCA Records in Nashville.

Greenwood’s debut album, A Perfect 10, was released in 1983. It spawned the hits “I.O.U.” and “Ring on Her Finger, Time on Her Hands”. His second album, You Brought Me Love, was released in 1984 and featured the hit single “Somebody’s Gonna Love You”.

In 1985, Greenwood scored his first major hit with “God Bless the USA“, which became an anthem for patriotic Americans. The song was released in the wake of the September 11th attacks, and it helped Greenwood to solidify his reputation as a patriotic singer. He has since performed the song at a number of major events, including the Super Bowl and the Republican National Convention.
