Jimmy Dean (born 1928) was an American country music singer, television host, actor, and businessman, best known for his 1961 hit “Big Bad John“.

He began his musical career singing in honky-tonks and eventually made his way to Nashville, where he found success as a session musician. His big break came in 1961 with the release of “Big Bad John“, which went to number one on the country charts and made Dean a household name.

In the 1960s, Dean hosted his own television show, ‘The Jimmy Dean Show’, which featured country music and comedy. He also appeared in a number of films, including 1967’s The Fox and the Hound.
