Jennifer Hudson (born September 12, 1981) is an American singer and actress. She rose to fame in 2004 as a finalist on the third season of the singing competition American Idol.
Her self-titled debut studio album was certified gold in the United States, sold over a million copies worldwide, and received a Grammy Award for Best R&B Album. Her subsequent studio albums saw continued commercial success and in 2013, she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Since 2017, Hudson has contributed as a coach on the UK and the US version of The Voice.
