Jackie Wilson was a dynamic and powerful soul performer during the 1950s and ’60s who successfully crossed over from rhythm and blues to pop music.

Jackie Wilson was a soul singer from Detroit, Michigan. He is best known for his hit singles “Reet Petite” and “Higher and Higher”.

Wilson began his career as a member of the R&B group The Dominoes. He went solo in 1957 and released his debut album, “Lonely Teardrops”. The album was a success, reaching number one on the Billboard R&B chart.

Wilson had several more hits in the late 1950s and early 1960s, including “To Be Loved” and “Nobody But You”. His career was cut short in 1975 when he suffered a heart attack onstage. He died nine years later.

Wilson was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.
