Frankie Goes to Hollywood is a British band formed in 1980s. Fronted by Holly Johnson (vocals), with Paul Rutherford (vocals), Peter Gill (drums, percussion), Mark O’Toole (bass guitar), and Brian Nash (guitar). The bands debut song “Relax” was banned from radio play but still managed to spend five weeks at number one in the UK chart and eventually spent a full 52 weeks in that chart. 1984 saw the release of Frankie’s follow-up singles “Two Tribes” and “The Power Of Love” which also gained the UK number-one spots.
In 1985 the band won the Brit Award for Best British Newcomer, and also received Grammy Award and MTV Video Music Award nominations for Best New Artist.
