Edith Piaf  was a French singer, songwriter, cabaret performer and film actress. She was one of the country’s most widely known international stars. Her trademark songs were interpretations of French ballads and included “Non, je ne regrette rien” and “La Vie en rose”.

Throughout her career, Piaf recorded over 100 songs in a repertoire that included chanson, cabaret, and American jazz. She wrote most of her own material and came to be regarded as one of the most influential singers in French music history.

Having suffered ill health Edith Piaf died at the age of 47 years.
