Dave Clark 5 were formed in 1961. They were part of the “British Invasion” of the 1960s music scene and reached the Top 40 17 times between 1964 and 1967 with memorable hits like “Glad All Over,” “Bits and Pieces,” “Because,”.  They were one of the first English groups to tour North America.

The band’s breakthrough came in 1963 with their hit single, “Glad All Over,” which went on to reach number one in the UK and number six in the US. This success was followed by a string of chart-topping hits, including “Bits and Pieces,” “Catch Us If You Can,” and “Over and Over.”

In addition to their musical success, the DC5 also made appearances in several films, including “Catch Us If You Can” and “Having a Wild Weekend.” They also became regular performers on popular TV shows, such as “The Ed Sullivan Show” and “Shindig!”

By the late 1960s, however, the DC5’s popularity began to wane, and the band eventually disbanded in 1970. Dave Clark went on to have a successful career as a producer and manager, while the other members pursued various musical ventures.

After a lull in hits, The Dave Clark Five disbanded in 1970.
