Cypress Hill is an American hip hop group. The group was formed in 1988 by rappers B-Real (Louis Freese), Sen Dog (Senen Reyes), DJ Muggs (Lawrence Muggerud), and percussionist Bobo (Federico Bautista). Cypress Hill is known for its Latin-tinged Rap, as well as hit singles “Insane in the Brain”, “How I Could Just Kill a Man”, “(Rap) Superstar”, “When the Ship Goes Down”, “Dr. Greenthumb”, and “Throw Your Set in the Air”.
Cypress Hill has released nine studio albums: their self-titled debut (1991), ‘Black Sunday’ (1993), ‘Insane in the Brain’ EP (1993), ‘III: Temples of Boom’ (1995), ‘IV’ (1998), ‘Skull & Bones’ (2000), ‘Stoned Raiders’ (2001), ‘Til Death Do Us Part’ (2004), and R’ise Up’ (2010). In addition, the group has released two compilation albums and two EPs.
Cypress Hill has won two Grammy Awards in the Rap category, and has become one of the most successful Latin-influenced Hip Hop groups of all time. They have also been honoured with numerous awards and nominations from organisations such as MTV, BET, and the American Music Awards. Their music has been featured in films, television, and video games, and their influence continues to reach new audiences.
