Commodores (The) were formed in 1967 and consisted of members Lionel Richie,  Thomas McClary, William King,  Andre Callahan, Michael Gilbert and Milan Williams. Although the line-up changed considerably over the years The Commodores legacy lives on in their beautiful harmonic ballads.

They signed with Motown in November 1972, having first caught the public eye opening for The Jackson 5 while on tour.

The group’s most successful period was in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s when Lionel Richie was the co-lead singer/songwriter. The band’s biggest hit singles such as “Easy“, “Three Times a Lady“, and “Nightshift” were best sellers and in 1986 the Commodores won their first Grammy for the song “Nightshift“.

The Commodores, now reduced to a trio continue to perform (as of 2017) to loyal fans around the world. They also manage their own  Records label.
