Brian Setzer
Brian Robert Setzer (born April 10, 1959) is an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He earned widespread success in the early 1980s with the rockabilly group Stray Cats, and returned to the music scene in the early 1990s with his swing revival band, the Brian Setzer Orchestra.
He grew up surrounded by the music of rock and roll greats like Eddie Cochran and Elvis Presley but found a love of ‘Big Band Jazz’. His first instrument was the euphonium and he played brass in a variety of jazz bands while in school before eventually picking up a guitar.
The Stray Cats was formed in around 1979 and found fame in the UK. Their 1981 debut album was released and the singles “Rock This Town” and “Stray Cat Strut,” were hits. The group disbanded and reformed a few times before finally coming to an end. Brian then returned to his love of music from the 1950s and created the Brian Setzer Orchestra as well as releasing some solo music.
