Bobby Bare has logged 30 Top 20 singles over the course of his career, won a Grammy Award, has multiple Grammy nominations and has been inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, in the Veterans Artist category. During his career, Bare has had success with Traditional Country, the Nashville Sound, Outlaw Country, and country pop crossover material.
Born in Ohio he started recording songs in 1955 (aged 20) and laid down his single “All American Boy” just before being drafted. The song was credited to his friend Bill Parsons and reached number 2 on the American Billboard. His big break on the country scene came when he was signed to RCA records where he stayed until his move to Mercury Records in 1970.
Despite his record sales dropping over the decades Bare has retained a loyal following and attained the respect of a new generation of country artists. His son Bobby Bare Jr has followed in his footsteps as an alternative country/rock singer and music producer.
