Ashanti burst onto the music scene with her debut album “Ashanti” which landed the number 1 spot on both the Billboard Top 200 and R&B album charts. She continues to be one of Billboard’s Top Females of the Decade from 2000-2010. She is currently on the list of The Twenty Best Selling Music Singles for her single “Foolish,” which has sold over 8 million copies.
As an actress, she made her television film debut starring in The Muppets’ Wizard of Oz, opposite Miss Piggy and Kermit. She also starred in the Disney animated series The Proud Family. She got her start in acting on American TV in shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Sabrina, the Teenage Witch.
In 2015, she announced that she has been working on new music for her sixth album. Ashanti also partnered with Michelle Obama and the Let’s Move campaign to which aims to spread awareness of the importance of drinking water and produced a new video and song “Let’s Go”.
