Jimmy Jones Backing Tracks – Good Timin’ … Handy Man

Jimmy Jones (born James Arthur Jones, 12th May 1938) is an African-American singer and songwriter. He is best known for his 1960 hit record, “Handy Man”.

Jones began playing guitar at an early age, and was inspired to pursue a career in music after hearing Elvis Presley perform on the radio.

Jones moved to Los Angeles in 1957, where he began working as a session singer and musician. He recorded his first single, “Handy Man”, in 1959, and it was released the following year. The song became a huge hit, reaching #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Jones continued to record and release successful singles throughout the 1960s, including “Good Timin’”, “Baby I’m Yours”, and “Hurt”. He also appeared on television shows such as American Bandstand and The Ed Sullivan Show.

In the 1970s, Jones’ career began to decline but he made a comeback in the 1980s with the release of the album “Slow Hand”.

The album’s title track, a duet with country singer Willie Nelson, became a hit, and Jones’ career was revived.

In the 1990s and 2000s, Jones continued to record and perform, and he was inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame in 2006.
