Chris de Burgh – Christopher John Davison (born 15 October 1948) is a British-Irish singer-songwriter and instrumentalist. He is an art rock performer who also writes pop-oriented material. He has had several top 40 hits in the UK and two in the US, but he is more popular in other countries, particularly Norway and Brazil. He is most famous for his 1986 love song “The Lady in Red”, which reached number one in several countries. De Burgh has sold over 45 million albums worldwide.

Chris de Burgh (born Christopher John Davison; October 15, 1948) is a British-Irish singer-songwriter and instrumentalist.

Born in Venado Tuerto, Argentina, de Burgh was brought up in Ireland, England, Malta and Zaire before entering the music industry. He is an accomplished instrumentalist, playing guitars, bass guitar, keyboards and other percussion instruments.

De Burgh gained popularity in the late 1970s and 1980s with a string of albums and hit singles, including “A Spaceman Came Travelling,” “The Lady in Red,” “High on Emotion,” and “Don’t Pay the Ferryman.” He has released more than 30 albums to date, including 2014’s A Better World, and continues to tour worldwide.

De Burgh is a noted conservationist and a supporter of numerous charities. He has served as an Ambassador for UNICEF UK since 1994, and in 2007, he helped establish the Chris de Burgh Fan Club Charity, a UK-registered charity that supports a variety of charities including WaterAid and The Prince’s Trust.
