Todd Rundgren (born June 22, 1948) is an American multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, and record producer who has performed a diverse range of styles as a solo artist and as a member of the band Utopia. He is characterised for his sophisticated and often-unorthodox music, flamboyant stage outfits, and his later experiments with interactive entertainment. He also produced innovative music videos, pioneered forms of multimedia, and was an early adopter and promoter of various computer technologies, such as using the Internet as a means of music distribution in the late 1990s.

He has also been a prolific record producer, working with some of the biggest names in the music industry, such as Grand Funk Railroad, Cheap Trick, XTC, Meat Loaf, and Bad Religion.

In addition to his musical work, Rundgren is a computer programmer, having developed multimedia software in the 1990s. He was also involved in various philanthropic causes.

Rundgren has been influential and innovative in many musical genres, from rock and pop to electronic and jazz, and is considered one of the pioneers of modern pop music. His music career spanned over five decades.
