Sam Smith is an English singer / songwriter who became famous in 2012 when they were featured on a single by the group Disclosure which reached number 11 on the UK Singles Chart and in February 2013 Sam Smith released their debut single “Lay Me Down”.   In October 2015 the song “Writing’s On The Wall” was released as the theme song to the James Bond film Spectre. During February 2013 Sam Smith released their debut single “Lay Me Down”. In May 2013 they were featured on Naughty Boy’s “La La La” which earned Smith their first UK number 1 single. In January 2014 Sam Smith went on American television for the first time performing “Latch” with Disclosure and went on to perform on Saturday Night Live in March 2014 singing an acoustic version of  “Lay Me Down” and a new song “Stay With Me”.

This song was released in the United Kingdom in May 2014. Written by Sam Smith and Jimmy Napier, “Stay with Me” became Smith’s most successful at that time, reaching number one in the United Kingdom, as well as in Canada and New Zealand. In the United States, it peaked at number two on Billboard ’​s Hot 100 chart (Smith’s first top ten hit in the country). It has also reached the Top 10 over twelve countries worldwide.

For the 30th anniversary of Band Aid, Bob Geldof (Boom Town Rats) convened a group of vocalists to record a new version of “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” to raise funds for the battle against Ebola in West Africa. Sam Smith performed alongside veteran artists such as Bono, Robert Plant and Queen drummer Roger Taylor as well as chart-topppers such as Ed Sheeran, Rita OraOne Direction and Ellie Goulding.
