Ottawan’s debut single “D.I.S.C.O” was a massive dance hit around Europe in 1980 and even made it to number two in Great Britain, staying in the charts for 18 weeks. 1981’s “Hands Up” was almost as successful, reaching number three in the UK and logging on the charts for 15 weeks.
The duo recorded in French as well as English and had a minor hit in France with the single “You’re OK” (French title “T’es OK”).
Patrick Jean-Baptiste left the group soon afterwards and Esther de Bijl formed the new Ottawan line up together with New York-based C. Robert Walker.

Lyrics
Hands up, baby, hands up
Gimme your heart gimme gimme your heart
Gimme gimme
Hands up, baby, hands up
Gimme your heart, gimme, gimme your heart
Gimme, gimme
All your love, all your loveAngel face, I love your smile
Love your ways, I like your style
What can I do to get closer to youDon’t think twice or count to ten
Don’t take advice, don’t ask me when
Just come my way
Simply kiss me and sayHands up, baby, hands up
