Mark Knopfler OBE is a British singer-songwriter, guitarist, and record producer. Born in Scotland, he was the lead guitarist, singer and songwriter of the rock band Dire Straits. He pursued a solo career after the band first dissolved in 1988.

He has collaborated with several artists as singer song-writer and had the likes of Van Morrison contribute on some of his work.

Mark Knopfler spent some time producing and performing within the country music genre. He collaborated with George Jones and is featured on a Kris Kristofferson album. In 2006 he released an album of duets with the acclaimed Emmylou Harris. ‘All the Roadrunning’ was nominated for “Best Folk Rock/Americana Album” at the 49th Grammy Awards.
