Lil Nas X (Montero Lamar Hill) is an American rapper and singer. He rose to prominence with the release of his country rap single “Old Town Road”.

The song spent 19 weeks at the top of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. Several remixes of the song were released, the most popular of which featured country singer Billy Ray Cyrus.

Following the success of “Old Town Road”, Lil Nas X released his debut extended play which spawned two further singles⁠. “Panini” peaked at number five and “Rodeo” (featuring Cardi B) topped out at number 22 on the Hot 100. His debut studio album, Montero (2021) was nominated for Album of the Year at the 2022 Grammy Awards and was supported by the chart-topping singles “Montero (Call Me by Your Name)” and “Industry Baby” (with Jack Harlow) and the top-ten single “That’s What I Want”.

Lil Nas X was the most-nominated male artist at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards (2020). He won awards for Best Music Video and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. “Old Town Road” earned him two MTV Video Music Awards including Song of the Year, and the American Music Award for Favourite Rap/Hip Hop Song; Lil Nas X has also won a Country Music Award.
