Leonard Norman Cohen (born 21st September, 1934 – died 7th November, 2016), was a Canadian singer, songwriter, musician, poet, novelist, and painter. As a youngster, Cohen learned to play guitar and began writing poetry and novels. He moved to New York City in 1955. He began to compose and release folk-rock and pop songs, and in 1957, made his musical debut at the Newport Folk Festival.
