The Crystals formed in 1961 and consisted of singers Barbara Alston, Mary Thomas, Dolores Kenniebrew, Myrna Giraud and Patricia Wright. They were signed to Phil Spector’s label Philles Records. Their first hit,”There’s No Other (Like My Baby)“, reached number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the USA.
Phil Spector also recorded a singer called Darlene Love and the group The Blossoms at the same time, and when The Crystals couldn’t get to a recording session, Spector used the voices of Love and The Blossoms on the single “He’s A Rebel” (Gene Pitney).
