Cascades Backing Tracks – Hushabye … Last Leaf … Rhythm Of The Rain … Was I Dreaming …

The Cascades were an American vocal group from the 1960’s and ’70’s. The group originally consisted of lead vocalist John Gummoe, rhythm guitarist David Szabo, lead guitarist Eddy Dayton, bassist Dave Stevens, and drummer Lance Fent.

Strongly influenced by The Beach Boys style, they concentrated on putting together harmonies and released the song “There’s A Reason” in 1962 but they are more famous for their track “Rhythm Of The Rain” which reached Number 3 in the Billboard Charts and sold over a million copies world wide.

Subsequently the band continued to try to break into the mainstream, but were never as successful with their follow up songs.

Throughout the 1960s, the Cascades released several albums, including The Cascades (1962) and Moving On (1965). They charted several hits, including “Rhythm Of The Rain,” “The Last Leaf,” and “Was I Dreaming.” In 1968, the group disbanded, and Gummoe pursued a solo career.

In the 1970s and early 1980s, the group reunited a few times for special engagements and released a compilation album, ‘The Best Of The Cascades’.
