Boz Scaggs learned the cello, at age 9 and the guitar at age 12. He met guitarist Steve Miller whilst still at school and joined his group ‘the Marksmen’ as a vocalist in 1959. The pair later attended university together, where they played in blues bands.

Boz spent time in Europe and recorded a failed album in Sweden before returning to the US and reuniting with Steve Miller. He joined the fledgling Steve Miller Band, but after recording two acclaimed albums with the group, Scaggs exited to launch his solo career.

He worked with several record labels including Atlantic and Columbia but he did not achieve a commercial breakthrough until 1976 when his album ‘Silk Degrees’ reached number two on the album charts. It spawned the Top Three single “Lowdown,” as well as the smash “Lido Shuffle.”

His solo career spans nearly 4 decades and at time of writing Boz Scaggs continues to write, record music, and tour with his latest album being released in July 2018.
