XX (The) are an alternative indie pop band from London, UK who, after posting demos on their Myspace page, came to the attention of a record label. Consisting of Romy Madley Croft (guitar, vocals), Oliver Sim (bass, vocals), Jamie Smith (and formerly Baria Qureshi (keyboard, guitar)), The XX have consistently produced chart topping albums.

The band members met while studying at school and have cited several artists in their influences, including Uk based hip-hop and dance music. Siouxsie and the Banshees, Yazoo, Eurythmics and New Order.

Their debut album, “xx,” released in 2009, was met with critical acclaim and commercial success, winning the Mercury Prize Album of The Year in in 2010. This album established the band’s signature sound, marked by sparse instrumentation and emotive lyrics that explore themes of love, longing, and identity. Tracks like “Crystalised” and “VCR” became anthems for a generation, showcasing their ability to craft songs that resonate deeply on an emotional level. Following their debut, The xx continued to evolve their sound with subsequent albums, “Coexist” (2012) and “I See You” (2017)
