Orville Richard Burrell (born October 22, 1968), better known by his stage name Shaggy, is a Jamaican musician, singer, DJ, actor and former United States Marine. He is best known for his hit singles “Oh Carolina”, “Boombastic”, “It Wasn’t Me” and “Angel”. He took his stage name from the character in the popular children’s TV show Scooby-Doo. In 1987, he took singing courses and was discovered a year later, while singing in the streets with friends. He won a Grammy Award for his Album Boombastic in 1996.

Shaggy became one of the few reggae artists to top the album and pop singles charts in America and numerous other countries.

Boosted by the success of his musical career, he made his film debut in the action comedy film ‘Blast’, where he played a supporting role. Years later, he appeared in another action comedy movie ‘Game Over, Man!’ playing a cameo role. He is also renowned for his involvement in philanthropic activities.
